Chocolate Frosted Donuts
These homemade chocolate covered donuts are soft, fluffy, and baked to perfection with a rich chocolate frosting on top. The ultimate treat for chocolate lovers, easy, fun, and no frying needed!

Donuts; 1 ¼ cup all-purpose flour 1 tsp baking powder 1 large egg ½ cup granulated sugar 4 tbsp unsalted butter melted ½ tsp vanilla extract ½ cup milk regular or almond milk works well ⅛ tsp salt Chocolate Frosting: 3 tbsp heavy whipping cream 1 ¼ cup chocolate chips milk, dark, or semi-sweet
Step 1: Prepare & Preheat Step 2: Make the Donut Batter In a microwave-safe bowl, melt the butter.
Stir in the sugar and salt until well combined.
Whisk in the egg until the mixture is smooth.
Mix in the vanilla extract and milk.
Add the flour and baking powder, stirring until the batter is smooth and free of lumps. The batter should be thick but pourable.
Step 3: Bake the Donuts Fill each donut mold about ¾ full with batter.
Bake for 10 minutes or until the donuts are set and lightly golden.
Let them cool in the pan for a couple of minutes before flipping the pan upside down to release the donuts onto a cooling rack.
Step 4: Make the Chocolate Frosting In a microwave-safe bowl, heat the heavy whipping cream until warm but not boiling.
Add the chocolate chips and stir until smooth and melted.
Tips for Success
Don’t Overmix – Overmixing the batter can lead to dense donuts. Stir until just combined.
Let Them Cool – Allow donuts to cool slightly before frosting so the glaze sets beautifully.
Use a Piping Bag – For easy filling, transfer the batter into a piping bag or a zip-top bag with the tip cut off and pipe it into the donut molds.
