Ingredients

Donuts;

  • 1 ¼ cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1 large egg
  • ½ cup granulated sugar
  • 4 tbsp unsalted butter melted
  • ½ tsp vanilla extract
  • ½ cup milk regular or almond milk works well
  • tsp salt

Chocolate Frosting:

  • 3 tbsp heavy whipping cream
  • 1 ¼ cup chocolate chips milk, dark, or semi-sweet

Instructions

Step 1: Prepare & Preheat

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a donut baking pan with butter or non-stick cooking spray.

Step 2: Make the Donut Batter

  • In a microwave-safe bowl, melt the butter.
  • Stir in the sugar and salt until well combined.
  • Whisk in the egg until the mixture is smooth.
  • Mix in the vanilla extract and milk.
  • Add the flour and baking powder, stirring until the batter is smooth and free of lumps. The batter should be thick but pourable.

Step 3: Bake the Donuts

  • Fill each donut mold about ¾ full with batter.
  • Bake for 10 minutes or until the donuts are set and lightly golden.
  • Let them cool in the pan for a couple of minutes before flipping the pan upside down to release the donuts onto a cooling rack.

Step 4: Make the Chocolate Frosting

  • In a microwave-safe bowl, heat the heavy whipping cream until warm but not boiling.
  • Add the chocolate chips and stir until smooth and melted.

Step 5: Frost & Enjoy

  • Using a spatula or spoon, spread the frosting over each donut. For extra chocolatey goodness, top with mini chocolate chips or sprinkles.

Notes

Tips for Success

  • Don’t Overmix – Overmixing the batter can lead to dense donuts. Stir until just combined.
  • Let Them Cool – Allow donuts to cool slightly before frosting so the glaze sets beautifully.
  • Use a Piping Bag – For easy filling, transfer the batter into a piping bag or a zip-top bag with the tip cut off and pipe it into the donut molds.
