Step 2: Blanch the Green Beans
Add the green beans to the boiling water and cook for 4–5 minutes, until they are bright green and slightly tender.
Immediately transfer the green beans to a bowl of ice water. This stops the cooking process and helps the green beans maintain their beautiful color.
Drain the green beans well.
Step 3: Sauté the Garlic
Heat the butter and olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
Add the minced garlic and cook for about 30 seconds, stirring frequently, until fragrant. Be careful not to burn the garlic.
Step 4: Add the Green Beans
Add the blanched green beans to the skillet. Sprinkle with Italian seasoning, salt, and black pepper.
Toss everything together and cook for another 4–5 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the green beans are heated through and coated in the garlic butter.
Step 5: Finish and Serve
Remove from the heat and sprinkle with freshly grated Parmesan cheese, if desired.
Serve the garlic green beans recipe warm with your favorite main dish.
