Ingredients

  • 2 Tbsp unsalted butter softened (not melted)
  • 2 Tbsp brown sugar packed
  • ½ Tbsp granulated sugar for extra chewiness
  • ¼ Tsp vanilla extract
  • 4 Tbsp all-purpose flour for a better texture
  • ¼ Tsp baking powder
  • Tsp baking soda
  • 1 ½ Tbsp chocolate chips plus more for topping
  • A pinch of salt enhances flavor

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • In a mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until the mixture is light and fluffy (about 2 minutes).
  • Stir in the vanilla extract.
  • Add the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Mix until fully combined. The dough may be slightly sticky but should hold together.
  • Fold in the chocolate chips.
  • Scoop the dough onto the prepared baking sheet and form it into a ball. Use a spatula to help shape it.
  • Top with a few extra chocolate chips for that bakery-style look.
  • Bake for 12 minutes, or until the edges are golden brown.
  • Remove from the oven and use a small bowl to gently swirl around the cookie to shape it into a perfect round.
  • Let it cool slightly before enjoying your warm, gooey chocolate chip cookie!

Notes

Tips for the Best Single-Serve Cookie

Use Softened, Not Melted Butter

Melted butter will make your cookie spread too much, resulting in a thinner texture. Softened butter creates the perfect balance of crisp edges and a soft center.

Don’t Overmix the Dough

Overmixing can lead to a tougher cookie. Mix just until the ingredients are incorporated for the best texture.

Add Extra Chocolate Chips on Top

For that bakery-style appearance, always press a few chocolate chips on top before baking. It makes the cookie look extra tempting!

Customize Your Cookie

  • For a crispier edge: Bake for an extra 1-2 minutes.
  • For a richer flavor: Use dark chocolate chips instead of semi-sweet.
  • For a nutty crunch: Mix in ½ Tbsp of chopped nuts.
  • For a salted caramel twist: Add a sprinkle of sea salt on top after baking.
