Cheesy & Flavor Packed Mac & Cheese

Ingredients
  

  • 3 cups macaroni pasta
  • 4 tbsp butter
  • 3 tbsp all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 tbsp paprika
  • 1 tsp Cajun seasoning
  • Pinch of cayenne pepper adjust to taste
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 3 cups shredded sharp cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 cup shredded Colby Jack cheese
  • 1 1/4 cups heavy cream
  • 1 cup milk

Instructions
 

Cook the Pasta

  • In a large pot, bring water to a boil and cook the macaroni pasta according to the package instructions. Once cooked, drain the pasta and set it aside.

Make the Cheese Sauce

  • While the pasta is cooking, prepare the cheese sauce:
  • In a large skillet, melt the butter over medium heat.
  • Once melted, whisk in the flour to create a roux. Cook for 1-2 minutes until slightly golden.
  • Gradually pour in the heavy cream and milk, whisking continuously to prevent lumps.
  • Stir in the shredded sharp cheddar and Colby Jack cheeses. Keep stirring until the cheese is fully melted and the sauce is smooth.
  • Add the paprika, Cajun seasoning, cayenne pepper, and salt. Mix well.

Combine and Serve

  • Remove the cheese sauce from heat. Add the drained pasta to the skillet and toss until every piece is coated in the creamy cheese sauce.
  • Serve immediately and enjoy the cheesy, flavor-packed goodness!
