Total Time 1 hour hr 20 minutes mins
- 3 cups water
- ⅔ cup dried elderberries
- 1½ tablespoons freshly grated ginger or 2 teaspoons dried ginger
- 1 teaspoon dried cinnamon
- 1 teaspoon dried cloves
- ½ teaspoon turmeric
- 1 cup raw honey
Add the water, dried elderberries, ginger, cinnamon, cloves, and turmeric to a medium saucepan.
Bring the mixture to a gentle boil over medium heat.
Reduce the heat and simmer gently until the liquid has reduced and the flavors have infused.
Remove from the heat and carefully strain the mixture through a fine-mesh strainer. For a smoother syrup, line the strainer with cheesecloth.
Press gently on the cooked elderberries to extract the remaining liquid.
Allow the strained liquid to cool until warm rather than very hot.
Add the raw honey and stir until completely incorporated.
Pour the finished syrup into a clean glass jar or airtight container.
Refrigerate.
