Tips to Perfect Your Protein Chocolate Chip Cookies

Making protein chocolate chip cookies that taste just like the original is all about balance. Here are a few tried-and-true tips to ensure success:

  • Use a high-quality protein powder โ€“ Whey-based powders tend to bake better and give a smoother texture than most plant-based options.
  • Donโ€™t overmix โ€“ Especially once you add the flour and protein powder. Overmixing can lead to tough cookies.
  • Chill the dough โ€“ For thicker cookies that spread less, chill the dough for 15 to 30 minutes before baking.
  • Donโ€™t skip the egg yolk โ€“ Using just the yolk gives the cookies a rich, chewy texture.

  • Coconut Crunch โ€“ Add 1/4 cup shredded coconut for extra texture.
  • Peanut Butter Swirl โ€“ Stir in peanut butter chips or swirl in a spoonful of peanut butter.
  • Vegan Version โ€“ Use a plant-based protein, dairy-free butter, and replace the egg yolk with a flax egg (1 tablespoon flaxseed meal mixed with 3 tablespoons water).

I have been making these for a few weeks now and we love them. They are easy to make and they taste like cookies. Not chalky like other protein recipes. If you slightly under bake them for 1-2 minutes you get a softer texture in the center. Great recipe

Loved them! I made them with a peanut butter chocolate protein powder and they turned out so good!

Okay these turned out great! I noticed that if I melt the butter the cookies turned out flatter. But if I made it with room temp butter they were a bit thicker. So whenever Iโ€™m craving a thicker cookie I make sure to take the butter ahead of time. I will be making these again
